Dying of cancer is something we all fear. Having a heart attack, although it seems more remote, because we don't hear about it on television every day, would probably kill us where we stand. But the possibility of losing our minds and independence and not even really knowing it is truly the most dreaded potential out there ahead of us.

Over 4.5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease. Every day we're all one day closer to Alzheimer's disease. Those with AD will increase significantly if current population trends continue because the risk of AD increases with age, and the U.S. population is getting older. The number of people age 65 and older is expected to grow from 39 million in 2008 to 72 million in 2030, and the number of people with AD doubles for every 5-year interval after the age of 65.

And it's preventable, according to the gold standard of research at hand. Dementia, memory loss, and Alzheimer's are preventable with natural hormones prescribed in a cycle that mimics the rhythmic, escalating, and descending doses your body naturally produced when you were young; this is not the case with conventional Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

In the 70's, when Provera was invented, Premarin, the "Prem" in Prempro, was prescribed alone. This low-dose chronic horse estrogen caused uterin cancer by fostering an overgrowth of the lining of the uterous. Originally, a doctor aiming to replace hormones only prescribed estrogen replacement therapy (ERT). But once the epidemic increase of uterine cancer was identified, instead of pulling Premarin from the shelves, Upjohn, the original maker of MPA, invented another drug out of natural progesterone.

The molecule of natural progesterone found in a compound called genistein in plants was chemically altered into a patentable drug that has been proven to have life-threatening side effects like heart disease, breast cancer, stroke, and dementia. The two drugs were eventually packaged together and remarketed as PremPro to prevent the horse estrogen from causing uterine cancer, and increase the market share to women with uteruses.

However, unlike real progesterone, which has a rhythmic, cyclical presence in your body two weeks out of every month, if you take Prempro, you recieve Provera every day. In actuality this combination of horse estrogen and fake progesterone can't ever recreate a normal cycle, so although it's marketed as HRT, it's not. It's not really hormone replacement for two reasons: 1) because it's a drug, and 2) because it's prescribed in a static dose, which has no resemblance to what used to go on hormonally in your body when you were in your prime.

In the end, the static, chronic dose of a progestin like Provera in a combination dose with an animal-source estrogen like Premarin blocks the horse estrogen's effect every day. So any benefits known to result in heart, brain, and breast from estrogen are lost or diminished. Even though this combination drug can cause breast cancer, heart disease, and dimentia, it's still widely available to women all over the world.

Here's something to think about now that winter has settled in... it is from Lights out, by T.S. Wiley, a book well worth the read fr better health and well being.

If you stay up too late, your hormones shift and cause your appetite to change. The sugars you crave send your insulin up to create the insulin resistance you need to get fat. On your way to tubby, you convert all teh carbohydrates you've eaten into cholesterol as VLDLs, and you retain water, which alters your blood pressure. At this point, any doctor would tell you there's heart disease on the horizon. We agree.

But we're going to tell you the first symptom of heart disease isn't high blood pressure and high cholesterol, it's depression.

When you live in prehybernartion mode, but never get to go dormant, you go crazy. You go crazy because you have stayed up so long. You see, in nature, staying up that long would mean you've eaten half of the planet, which is way more than your share. And you are most likely no longer fertile from swimming in all that insulin. Therefore you have no business living. so nature takes you out by altering yoru reality so you won't want to live anymore. You actually go crazy so you will take you out.

It's the "less work for the hostess" principle manifested in Mother Nature... The way nature effects this mechanism in your body is by ultimately creating a bipolar state of mind. Nature doubles the odds of your suicide with a bipolar state, inasmuch as your mania means a complete loss of impulse control.

There are major players and trendy buzzwords - serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and melatonin - to identify the loops in the machinery, but the bottom line is still the same. Sleep controls food supply and reproduction, which controls your mental state.

The hidden truth burried at the bottom of the syndrome of antidepressant use is that the "sleepless" phenomenon that creates a higher-than-normal serotonin brain levels responsible for the depression we're all experiencing simultaneously causes heart disease.

The media, doctors, and researchers will all tell you that fat people are more likely to have heart attacks because they have high cholesterol and high blood pressure - from ebing fat. And everybody knows that fat people are fat because they eat fatty foods.Fat people do have high cholesterol and high blood pressure that lead to heart attacks, but eating high-fat food has nothing to do with it. That's the lie they're hiding.

Fat people just get too tired to live.

Sleep controls your appetite for carbohydrates, the consumption of which controls water retention (to change your blood pressure) and insulin production (which facilitates cholesterol production). No sleep, no control. And seratonin builds up. When you don't sleep and you eat carbohydrates all day, week, month, year, decade, you swim in chroinically high serotonin because it never gets to turn into melatonin. That's where the depression comes in, and the actual heart disease.

As people everywhere, especially women in menopause, face yet another year wondering how to get rid of the belly fat accumulating around their mid-sections, it might do everyone good to understand the science behind it all.

If you have a sweet tooth, get ready for the really bad news… because scientists have finally proved that fructose, a cheap form of sugar used in thousands of food products and soft drinks, can damage human metabolism.

As T.S. Wiley said in her book Lights Out, “America in the 1940s and 1950s was already dying in fast forward from fast-food products preserved in sugar, and from its changing lifestyles thanks to the light. Longer working hours, cheaper electricity and television kept people up later at night, and death followed… When you stay up too late in artificial light, you begin to live in fast forward with every fiber of your being.”

By the 1970s most food manufacturers switched their sweeteners from sucrose, otherwise known as table sugar, to corn syrup, because HFCS was cheaper and much sweeter. This was when the average American's diet really took a dive for the worse. Why? Because, the human body metabolizes fructose in a much different way than glucose. When you consume fructose in large amounts there are profound negative results to the liver.

Fructose is made out of corn, and it can cause fat cells to grow around your organs, and it triggers diabetes and heart disease. Currently the Corn Refiners Association is hoping to convince you that fructose is as safe and natural as table sugar. It is not. 15 grams a day of fructose was the average a century ago, while today 73 grams per day is what a typical adolescent gets from soft drinks, but it is also in salad dressings, and many other foods. It is these huge doses of fructose that are so bad. Oh and here’s the irony – most of the low-fat diet foods have the highest fructose levels.

Wiley points out that, “By keeping the lights on to create endless summer, and having access to endless carbohydrates, all of our hormones are in summer mode, too… Not only our minds but our hearts live in the constant “panic” of mating season (competition for resources, high hormonal mood swings, and, ultimately loss), which used to coincide with real summer. So, day and night, year-round, decade after decade, our sex hormones are in high gear and we’re ready for a fight. The low fat lies of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s have only exhacerbated an enormous evolutionary glitch by prescribing a diet of more carbohydrates and exercise, which induce cortisone and insulin highs that have never been seen before in humans. The real bottom line is that when you don’t sleep, your heart dies… Our heart has a seasonal metabolism, just like your brain. Your summer heart runs on straight sugar, (glucose) and your winter heart runs on free fatty acids.”

The metabolism of fructose by your liver also creates toxins like uric acid, which drives up blood pressure and can also cause gout. Fructose leads to increased belly fat, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.

It's no wonder the food and beverage industry doesn’t want you to know how bad HFCS is because after its introduction in 1975, it has become a multi-billion dollar boost to the corn industry. It is in every processed food.

Today about one-quarter of the calories consumed by the average American are comprised of added sugars, mostly HFCS with little to no nutrient values. We consume 142 pounds a year of sugar and 55 percent of the sweeteners used in foods and beverages are made from corn. The worst kinds of fructose include high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and crystalline fructose, both major contributors to: insulin resistance, obesity, elevated blood pressure, triglycerides and LDL, depletion of vitamins and minerals and cardiovascular and liver diseases, cancer, gout and arthritis.

Wiley teaches medical practitioners who come to her environmental endocrinology seminars that every living thing on the earth gets energy from glucose, and it originates from healthy fruits and vegetables filled with fiber, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, and phytonutrients, moderating any negative metabolic effects. Every human cell utilizes glucose but much of it is burned up right after you consume it, while fructose is turned into free fatty acids (FFAs), the damaging form of cholesterol known as VLDL, and triglycerides, which are stored as fat.

So the bottom line is - if you have a sweet tooth, stick to organic cane sugar, or raw honey in small amounts. Do not use any artificial sweeteners, which are worse for your health than fructose. And remember, even agave syrup is fructose.
